The C.A. Quintet "Trip Thru Hell"
There's not much to compare this album to, even in the weird musical climate of 1968 -- there are echoes of Country Joe The Fish and the Doors, perhaps, in the mysterioso organ and morbid imagery.
Not that Ken Erwin was in the same league as Jim Morrison, or even Country Joe, as a songwriter.
But (with the exception of the brassy good-time cut "Underground Music"), psychedelia was very rarely this dementedly gloomy.
Occasional pealing bells and curdling screams (to say nothing of the Boschlike cover art) add to the foggy underworld menace.
Reissued without authorization in Europe in the 1980s, the 1995 domestic CD is a first-class job: the 12 bonus cuts gather some rare non-LP singles, alternate takes, and previously unreleased songs, and the liner notes feature extensive interviews with Ken Erwin and engineer Steve Longman.

B4. Keep on Moving 2:15
B5. Country Company 2:30
Montreal-based Canadian progressive gem...side 1 includes only one long(19'54")track entitled "Mann Made" , which is very interesting, mixing progressive, classical and elctronic music with spooky and dreamy organ passages, acidy guitarleads, flute solos, harsh vocals...side 2 except "Keep On Moving" ,which utilises fast rhythms with horns and synthesizers contains more slow and melodic moments like "Country Company" and "Reflections" with a hypnotic mood... "Carnival" is a strong mid-tempo ballad, sounding like a combination of Tim Buckley and Tim Hardin, but with also harsh vocals...the cut called "Evolution" ,which is the album's highlight, features good rhythm and stunning lead guitar work with several similarities to Pink Floyd's music...

Machine - Machine 1970 ( Netherlands,Psychedelic Rock)

The group from Rotterdam Machine - a group of Swinging Soul Machine minus singer Iwan "Spooky" Groeneveld, who has created the duet Spooky & Sue (along with Sue Chaloner) ... But there are three new members - vocalist John Caljouw (ex-Dragonfly), trumpeter François Content (ex-Big Ballad Boogie Blues Beat Bouncers Band, Free, Jimmy Walker, Outward Bound and other) and saxophonist Maarten Beckers (ex-Free), which, in fact, have made this group of "psychedelic". Do not look at the abundance of wind - here were the main guitar and organ. After releasing singles and an album, the band broke up ... In 1972, François Content went to the Windmill Orchestra , Hans Sel - in the Heart , Paul Vink - at Twelve O'Clock , Jan Bliek - in a Limousine , Jan Warby and Wim Warby - in Tantalus . In 1973, the group seemed to be gathered again under the name of Francois Content and Wim Warby , but finally disbanded in 1974. Very interesting album, not looking at the cover ...

Banzai - Hora Nata

Banzai - Formed in 1971 to Antwerp, the Belgian group Banzai as quintet stabilizes him around 1972, quickly earning a good reputation in the different festivals of the epoch, also in Holland, where in fact the label Delta puts them under contract. In 1974 they go out both the single one "born Hora / Good Morning Life" that the only album entitled note "Hora Nata born" (). The music of the Banzais has an evident prog-symphonic matrix, with debts toward the capiscuolas of the kind, but also with some memory of the softer Canterbury Sound. Apart the brief one and sparkle episode of opening "You always like an entrée?", where to the sax is also listened, it is above all the long suite "Obelisk" to denote the taste extremely moved and variegated of the band, among dynamics rhythmic fractures, almost in style fusion and beautiful variations on the theme submitted to the keyboards of Peter Torfs and the soloist guitar of John Mc Or, instrumentalist eclectic protagonist of a big end. In "Hattrick" the atmosphere for instance postpones to Dutch formations of the epoch as the Kayaks, with the guitar that vivaciously punctuates the liquid tonalities of the synth and a rhythmic section that it favors then you sprout him some organ. A passage as "Try" it recalls the lesson of the Yes instead, kind in the sung parts, and in the sumptuous arrangement, dense of swerves and numbers to effect of the soloists. On the same slope it stirs the long suite "Three magicians", mail in queue and even more grandiloquent: the dreamy voices, the preziosismis classicheggianti of the tastierista and the long alone chitarristicis summarize the essence of the prog-rock more sophisticated than the period. The band finally loosens him in 1976, after having engraved other two individuals in lighter key. CD Pseudonym.

Hallelujah1971
Hallelujah Babe
It was recorded in London and all the musicians who played on it, sang on it and wrote all the songs were British! Of course, Keith Forsey and Paul Vincent (who essentially WERE Hallelujah) did indeed make a living in Germany. Forsey eventually went on to become both an in-demand session drummer and hotshot producer to the stars based out of Munich.
I am actually surprised how much I like this. It’s basically sing-songy rock with slight progressive, psychedelic and folk touches, but it does it very well, with some nice vocals and very lovely melodies indeed. If you know what you’re in for, you could be in for a treat with this. I didn’t, and I was pleasantly surprised. Underrated!
